Essential Learning and California Association of Social Rehabilitation Agencies (CASRA) Bring E-Learning with Social Networking Tools to Social Rehabilitation Providers

SAN DIEGO- (September 30, 2008) Essential Learning and CASRA team up to bring behavioral  healthcare providers e-learning opportunities to help strengthen community-based programs that support recovery for consumers. A new collaboration and social networking feature, The CASRA Classroom, has been added to CASRA courses to facilitate discussion about course content, offer blogs and provide additional resources to students.

Three CASRA Courses, A Cultured-Centered Approach to Recovery, Understanding Recovery and Barriers to Recovery, are now available. To access these courses for individual purchase go to CASRA's new e-learning page at www.CASRA.org. Essential Learning customers will have access to these courses at no additional charge through their Organizational Learning Management System. Organizations that are using other learning management systems can purchase these courses for use in their system.

Essential Learning and CASRA are collaborating to convert more than 30 hours of CASRA’s highly successful training curriculum “Fundamentals of Psychosocial Rehabilitation” into online courses in the coming year.  Each course will be a three hour stand alone module.

E-learning courses developed through this partnership will promote the effective use of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and help individuals earn credit hours to be applied toward the requirements to sit for the national Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner exam.

“CASRA is an important partner to help us to continue to build content that will help providers create consumer-focused services and teach them about the main tenants of recovery-oriented practice,” said Lorraine Watson, Ph.D., President and COO of Essential Learning. “We are thrilled to provide this new social networking tool, CASRA Classroom, to enhance learning with our course content and work with CASRA, a leader in the field, not only in California where we are headquartered but nationally.” Watson further adds.

"We are very excited about this opportunity.  We are also excited to learn that Essential Learning has partnered with Mary Ellen Copeland to bring the WRAP ® Curriculum on-line.  What a tremendous combination for workforce development," said Betty Dahlquist, Executive Director of CASRA.

CASRA members will receive free access to CASRA online courses and a 10% discount on all Essential Learning courses purchased on CASRA’s e-learning page. Additionally, a special discounted price will be available for CASRA members to contract for a customized organizational learning management system for their organization.
